Fall wedding guest style tips!
Fall weddings might just be my favorite when it comes to getting dressed. The rich colors, beautiful fabrics and slightly more elevated feel of the season give us so many gorgeous options...and honestly, I’ll take a deep burgundy or olive green over a pastel any day!
I recently went through the wedding guest dresses at Macy’s and pulled together some of my favorites for fall. I was looking for dresses that felt elegant and special enough for a wedding, but still wearable...pieces I would actually reach for again for a holiday party, anniversary dinner or another special occasion.
Rich Fall Color
One of the easiest ways to make a wedding guest look feel right for fall is simply through color. Olive green, deep navy, burgundy, black and warm bronze immediately give a dress that richer seasonal feel.
The olive pleated maxi was one of the first dresses that caught my eye. I love the movement of the pleated skirt paired with the ruched bodice. It feels romantic without being overly fussy, and that olive shade is SO good for fall.
For something more classic, the navy off-the-shoulder is such a beautiful choice. The neckline and side ruffle give an otherwise simple silhouette just enough drama. This is one of those dresses that could work for so many different weddings and formal events.
A Little Shimmer
A fall wedding is also the perfect excuse for a little metallic!
The black and gold halter dress gives you that sparkle without feeling like a full-on sequin dress. I especially love the combination of black and gold for an evening wedding.
And that bronze one-shoulder satin? Gorgeous. The warm metallic color feels made for fall, while the draping and asymmetrical neckline make it feel incredibly elevated.
Classic With a Twist
I'm always drawn to pieces that feel classic but have one detail that makes them interesting.
The navy satin midi has such a beautiful, simple silhouette, but the sleeves, gathered waist and side slit give it something extra. It would be so easy to dress up with statement earrings and a great pair of heels.
And the burgundy long-sleeve dress may be the quintessential fall wedding guest dress. The rich wine color is beautiful for the season, and I love the draping and ruffle detail at the waist. The longer sleeves also make it a great option as we move into those cooler fall wedding dates.
My Fall Wedding Guest Style Tip
If you're not sure what to wear, start with the season rather than a trend. Look for rich autumn colors, beautiful movement and texture...satin, pleating, metallic details and draping...and then choose the silhouette that makes you feel your best.
I've gathered these dresses along with more of my favorite fall wedding guest styles in my Macy’s collection so you can shop them all in one place.
